Science Saturday

Science Saturday was a thunder booming success! We explored the weather by making different kinds of weather. Didn't you notice all the sunshine we provided for you on Saturday!?

We also created lightening - in our mouths. You can do this at home. Just chew on some winter green and peppermint lifesavers, shut off the lights, and look in a partner's mouth or mirror. Voila, instant lightening sparks.

Don't miss our next Science Saturday for some more wacky science experiments. Coming soon to the Forest Park Public Library closest to you.

The Lunch Lady Party

Lunch Lady party goers had a great time. They ate pizza and created new gadgets for the Lunch Lady to serve justice and lunch. Examples included flying aprons (thanks Kavya), frying pan radar dishes, a sleep powder pepper shaker, burrito guns, fruit toasters (thanks Charel), a can of confusion (whhaaatttt?), biscuit bugs, a PB & J tracker device, egg bombs, and a bread of spikes. You should now be very cautious when eating lunch in your school's cafeteria!

Book characters where randomly drawn and participants imagined what music, ambitions, and actors would play them in the film version of the Lunch Lady. Chelsea thought Principal Hernandez liked Justin Timberlake and would be played by George Lopez in the movie. Nick thought Betty liked Metallica, Linkin Park, and Breaking Benjamin. He thought her dream was to stop crime forever. Lastly, Jasmine felt Dee liked Taylor Swift's music and thought that Dee wanted to be a Lunch Lady someday.

Join us for our next book party. Ten-year-old orphan Peter Augustus Duchene encounters a fortune teller in the marketplace one day and she tells him that his sister, who is presumed dead, is in fact alive. He embarks on a remarkable series of adventures as he desperately tries to find her. Will he find her? Join us for our next book party and by that time you'll have read The Magician's Elephant!
