"Coraline" Celebrated!

"DON'T GO IN A LOCKED DOOR" was the major theme that the Coraline book discussion group came up with in Wednesday night's celebration of Neil Gaiman's Coraline. Participants got a charge out of the quiz that came with prizes. Arranging the first sentence of each chapter in the correct sequence proved challenging, but fun. Eating pizza and watching Coraline, the movie, wrapped up the evening. We now dare you to get SCARED on October 21st at 4 p.m. during our next book discussion, Creepy Chicago: A Ghosthunter's Tales of the City's Scariest Sites, by Ursula Bielski.

Captain Underpants!

Extend your child's enjoyment (I'm wincing as I write this) of their favorite book character. You can play Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot Vs. The Stupid Stinkbugs from Saturn and many other truly disgusting games at Dav Pilkey's Extra Crunchy Web Site O' Fun.
Also, children can make their own Captain Underpants comic at this Scholastic website. Have them fill in their name, hometown and their teacher's name, and let the fun begin!

Help Us Decorate our Bulletin Board!

This fall, Forest Park learns at the library, and we have the bulletin board to show it! The next time you stop in, your child can decorate one of our paper people to add to our Forest Park map. Just ask any of the Youth Services staff and they will be happy to direct your artist to the materials they will need! Now everyone has a chance to put themselves on the map!

Baby Storytime Begins!
Where did all the babies go? They were inside enjoying our very first storytime especially designed for babies. We'll be meeting every Tuesday at 10:30 from now through most of November, so if you have some time stop on by and see all the fun we have to offer.
For older kids, parents can take note that our toddler storytimes are still at the usual time (10:30) on Mondays and Fridays. If you have a three year-old and would be interested in a Tuesday option, take note that the Forest Park Community Center offers a Toddler Time program from 9-11 a.m. on Tuesdays.
