Set a World Record for Reading!

Summer starts early with Scholastic's reading program that starts on April 30. Your child can play along with the reading game show or log his or her minutes and compete for the world record of reading. You can download booklists for your child as well. Check out the site here.

A recent Johns Hopkins University study revealed that students who don't read over the summer are prone to the "Summer Slide". Parents: you too can prevent "Summer Slide"! Your child can stave off a decline in test scores by participating in these and other programs (like our own rapidly approaching summer reading program) that encourage consistent reading habits over the summer months.

Remember, too, that the Forest Park Public Library summer reading program for kids begins on June 7. This year's theme is Be Creative @ Your Library! Stay tuned for more details.
